EV charge point access agreements, coming to Wayline

The same structured process that works for telecoms wayleaves, adapted for EV charging installations. Launching 2026.

EV charging in multi-tenanted buildings has an access problem

Installing charge points in a building's car park requires the same type of access agreement as telecoms: consent from the landlord, defined terms, insurance requirements, ongoing maintenance access, and revenue-sharing arrangements. But today, there's no standard process. Charge point operators negotiate bespoke agreements with every building, often through solicitors, with no consistency or efficiency.

What's different about EV wayleaves

  • 1Longer agreement terms (10–15 years vs. 5 years for telecoms)
  • 2Revenue-sharing on energy sales (unique to EV)
  • 3Electrical capacity and MPAN considerations
  • 4Parking bay designation and usage rights
  • 5DNO (Distribution Network Operator) approvals
  • 6Elevated fire safety requirements for electrical installations
  • 7Traffic management during installation

The Wayline approach

Wayline's EV wayleave module builds on the same core platform: building preferences, structured requests, AI-powered safety review, digital agreements, and automated fee collection. We're adding EV-specific features: electrical capacity assessment, parking bay designation, revenue-sharing terms, and DNO compliance documentation.
